Orphaned at 49, Part 1

Back to Gatwick (by MH)

Three weeks ago today my beloved mum died, just shy of 25 years after my beloved dad died.

They both had cancer, both lived and died with dignity and love, and both left a shocking gap.

You learn to live with the grief, but it takes time.

The forms, the funeral, the wake, the work, the living; these things move you forward while your heart stays back with the dead, unwilling to leave the world where they live.

I am sorry for your loss.
